Careers with FWS

Finding Workable Solutions Inc. (FWS) is a dynamic and growing rural based organisation with a focus on delivering quality employment support services to disadvantaged job seekers. It offers the appeal of a rural working environment combined with modern, contemporary service delivery practices.

FWS is quality accredited against the National Disability Services Standards and the State Government’s Service Excellence Program. This means great services for our clients and great working conditions for staff.

Orientation and Induction

Your appointment at FWS will commence with a comprehensive induction to help you understand how your new role contributes to the organisation’s core business, culture and strategic direction.

You will also undertake a program of orientation covering your specific business unit of FWS. Experienced staff will provide you with training and information on:

  • Service Operating Procedures

  • Relevant FWS Policy

  • Organisation equipment and IT resources

A three month probationary period is used to complete your orientation and induction. This provides FWS with an opportunity to evaluate your skills and abilities while offering you a ‘trial period’ to determine your acceptance of the position.

Career Development

Following a successful probationary period you will participate in your first Individual Development Plan (IDP) meeting. Your IDP will be used to set short and long term personal and professional development goals, providing the basis for your career advancement within FWS. To keep your career at FWS on track, your IDP is reviewed with your manager every six months.

Within FWS you will find a strong culture of professional development and continuous improvement. Teamwork and diversity are highly valued. Staff members are empowered to work autonomously and as team players. In return a high level of accountability is expected.

To encourage staff to reach their full potential, opportunities for personal career development occur through:

  • Setting and achieving goals in your IDP

  • Participating in at least three staff training days per year

  • External Training

  • Participating on special focus committees

  • Support to participate in professional and community networking events

Employee Benefits and Incentives

In addition to your salary, a range of incentives and supports are available; both financial and non-financial. These benefits support staff by providing competitive working conditions and a desirable work-life balance that is difficult to achieve in most other occupations.

Salary Packaging Options

As a non-government organisation FWS is able to offer taxation exemptions through salary packaging, effectively reducing your annual income tax bill. A tax-free component of your salary will be available for a range of purchases at your discretion, in accordance with salary packaging guidelines.

Flexible Working conditions

You will enjoy the flexibility of managing your work time with the aid of a Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) system.

For even greater flexibility, rostered days off, part-time work and work from home arrangements can be negotiated on a case by case basis. Flexible arrangements for over 55’s and carers of pre-school aged children are available.

If desired, your standard annual leave entitlements can be increased by a purchased leave option. Career breaks of up to 3 months can be planned through long-term salary restructuring.

Maintaining your Health and Fitness for Work

FWS recognises that staff will all at some time encounter stress or personal pressures, either at work or at home. To assist you with management of possible stress, personal issues or sudden crises, free counselling is available through the FWS Employee Assistance Program. There is even a gym membership financial incentive to further encourage staff health and well-being.

Equipment and Resources

FWS will provide you with the equipment and resources you need to perform your job. Modern communication technology links all FWS offices and is available to all staff. Mobile phones, personal computers and safety-equipped vehicles are supplied as essential operating tools for service teams. State-of-the-art IT and a dedicated technical support team ensure you are making use of the best possible telecommunications equipment to carry out your work.
