About us

FWS is a not-for-profit community organisation operating since 1989.

FWS was formed to provided supported employment for a small group of individuals wanted to go to work just like everyone else. They provided a gardening and firewood service to the local community and those businesses still exist today.

Today FWS is an experienced organisation providing intervention and support to people with disabilities and disadvantage across South Australia to create independence both socially and economically.

FWS has a number of businesses referred to as ‘Social Enterprises’. They are businesses that trade to intentionally tackle social problems, improve communities, provide people with access to employment and training, or help the environment. Our innovative enterprises have qualified supervisors for supported employment opportunities for people with disabilities and provide great solutions for our communities.

Salvage & Save
We have four retail and recycling outlets (Elizabeth, Goolwa, Mt Barker and Murray Bridge) located near waste transfer stations that reduce landfill and create employment opportunities. This innovative enterprise takes donated or salvaged goods which are sold back into the community, by way of a low cost retail shop.
Southcoast Firewood
Located at Victor Harbor we process high quality redgum and sell it in bulk or bagged. Delivery service is available.
Lawns & Gardens
Established since 1989 this service provides gardening services to businesses in the Victor Harbor area.
In Stitches
Located in Mt Barker this wholesale service processes bulk sewn products to order.
Document Shredding
Document shredding and file deconstruction is available at Mt Barker and Victor Harbor. We provide 240 Ltr bins and have a pickup service.

Our Services

NDIS Services
Plan Management, Support Coordination, Community Participation, Life Skills, Finding & Keeping a Job, Specialist Supported Employment.

Disability Employment Services
Supporting people with disability, illness or injury who need help assistance to enter the workforce through work preparation activities. Job Placement and ongoing support after securing a job and arranging workplace modifications as required.
Youth Support
Pathways to assist young people to achieve goals via a range of interactive programs and activities.

Finding Workable Solutions Inc. (FWS) is one of South Australia’s most unique not for profit community organisations offering wide variety of job roles.  Within FWS you will find a strong culture of supportive leadership that promotes professional development and continuous improvement with a strong focus on teamwork.

Paid employees or volunteers do require a police check clearance at a minimum and may need to undertake ‘Child Related Employment Screening’ for positions that work with young people.

Our Partnerships

Our Partnerships

FWS continually strives to maintain and develop new relationships and collaborate with stakeholder at the state and regional level.

Currently we provide services for:

  • National Disability Insurance Agency
  • Alexandrina Council - Work for the Dole community beautification programme
  • Primary Health Network  (PHN) - Counselling and educational support to youth on Kangaroo Island dealing with personal or family or friends experiencing Alcohol and other drugs issues
  • Department of Social Services (DSS) - Disability Employment Services - Employment Support Services and Disability Management Services; Australian Disability Enterprises
  • Innovative Community Action Network (ICAN) - FWS works together with ICAN providers and provides 3 projects for Students registered under this programme. This programme is funded by the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD)
  • Wyatt Benevolent Institute Inc offers opportunities for South Australians experiencing poverty so they can lead satisfying, productive lives and participate more actively in the community. FWS provides assistance through the Employment Program across several locations
  • Adult Community Education -  ACE is ‘Supported through WorkReady by the Government of South Australia’ and ‘Supported by Government of South Australia’
